In the app — immediate
- Open Wind Ride and sign in.
- Open the menu behind your name and choose Account.
- Under Delete account, tap Delete my account.
- Enter your password and tap Permanently delete. The password is asked for so that nobody who picks up an unlocked phone can do this to you.
The deletion happens at once and cannot be undone. There is no grace period, no queue and no archive — when the confirmation returns, it is already done.
By email — within 30 days
Write to [email protected] from the address on the account, or from any address as long as you say which username to remove. Ask for the account to be deleted; nothing else is needed.
You will get a reply confirming it is done, within 30 days and usually within a day or two. Use this route if you have lost access to the account and cannot sign in to use the button above.
What is deleted
All of it, permanently:
- Your account — username, email address, password hash, and the date it was created.
- Your preferences — language, profile icon, routing engine, intro film setting, which one-time hints you had seen, and whether you had agreed to be emailed.
- The IP address, country and city recorded when you signed up.
- Any outstanding verification or password-reset codes.
- Every saved ride — the route lines themselves, distances, times, wind scores and start points.
- Every share link you had switched on. Those stop working immediately, and the shared page is gone for anyone still holding the link.
What is kept, and for how long
One thing, and it is stated here rather than left to be discovered.
Wind Ride keeps a technical log — one line per route generation, sign-in, account change and export, recording the time, what happened, the username it happened under, and the settings involved (distance, speed, departure time, and so on). It holds no coordinates: no start point, no route line, nothing that says where you rode.
It is an append-only file, so lines written before your deletion keep the username they were written under. Every line is deleted automatically 12 months after it was written, by the service itself rather than by anyone remembering to do it — so the last trace of a deleted account is gone within 12 months of that account's final action.
Nothing else survives deletion. There are no backups kept beyond that, no copies held for analytics, and nothing is passed to anyone else at any point.
Deleting only part of your data
Wind Ride has no way to delete individual rides while keeping the account — it is all or nothing. If that is what you want, email [email protected] and say what you would like removed.
Your other rights
Deletion is one of several rights you have under the GDPR. The rest — getting a copy of your data, correcting it, objecting to how it is used — are in the privacy policy, along with who to complain to if you are unhappy with the answer.
